Circa 1960’s - not dated on soles but all others I’ve had were around that date and are same imported batch.
Size 44 European - these boots are often worn too big with a pair of thick socks to make comfy/ warmer
Comes with pair of faux leather inner soles and the leather laces pictured. These are about 6 inches out of the boot - some people prefer longer so may require longer laces if that’s your preference - not supplied however modern ones are supplied with these as pictured.
Swedish Army M59 Waterproof Combat Boots – Genuine Military Surplus
Conquer the harshest elements with the Swedish Army M59 Waterproof Combat Boots, a legendary piece of cold-weather military surplus originally introduced in 1959. Engineered specifically to endure severe Scandinavian winters, these hybrid boots blend extreme durability with timeless, rugged utility.
Whether you are hitting the trails, working outdoors, or collecting rare military gear, the M59 delivers unmatched protection against freezing mud, slush, and rain.
Key Features & Technical Specifications
- Rubberized "Duck Boot" Base: Built with a thick, molded cellular rubber (cel gummi) lower vamp that completely encases your foot in an impenetrable waterproof barrier, transitioning into a rugged 2.3mm full-grain leather upper.
- Maximum Waterproofing: Features a fully gusseted tongue stitched to the very top of the boot shaft to block out deep mud and water.
- Military Ski-Compatible: Authentic square-toe design and a notched heel stack, explicitly engineered to lock into standard-issue Swedish military winter skis.
- Heavyweight, Bombproof Build: Weighing approximately 2.2 kg to 2.3 kg per pair, these boots feature dual-row stitching, ultra-durable outsoles by historic makers like Värnamo and Tretorn, and the official Swedish "Tre Kronor" (Three Crowns) military stamp.
Fit, Sizing & Expert Advice
Because these are authentic vintage military items, please review our sizing guidelines for the best fit:
- Add Your Own Insole: These boots were manufactured traditionally with a rigid leather base over a steel shank and do not include a modern cushioned insole. We highly recommend adding a thick wool or sheepskin insole for comfort and shock absorption.
- Designed for Heavy Layering: The interior features high vertical volume, designed by the military to accommodate 2–3 pairs of heavy wool socks to trap heat and prevent blisters.
- Sizing Tip (EU to UK Conversion): An EU 44 translates roughly to a UK 9.5 or 10. Because these boots run quite large to accommodate thick military socks, if you normally wear a UK size 10, an EU 44 will fit you perfectly with standard boot socks. If you prefer to wear everyday thin socks, you should size down.
