Where to purchase roof bars?

Various options exist for acquiring roof bars or a roof rack for your vehicle. Halfords, a prominent UK reseller, provides fitting services as well.

One possibility is an excellent online company providing diverse options for any vehicle - The Roof Box Company. They feature a user-friendly lookup tool for your vehicle, displaying all available options.

Vehicle roof weight limits?

Concerned about the impact of adding people to a roof tent on your vehicle's roof? Rest assured, our tents are designed to stay within your vehicle's safety limits.

The roof tent does not directly attach to or touch the vehicle's roof. It bolts onto the roof bars fixed to the steel frame of your vehicle, not the flat roof.

Review your car's manual for the maximum load limit specific to your vehicle. Be sure to consider the dynamic weight capacity, not just the static weight capacity.

Dynamic and static roof loads

A dynamic load is the moving weight limit on your car’s roof, while a static load is the vehicle’s stationary weight limit.

A vehicle’s roof is designed to handle heavier static loads than dynamic loads, with strong roof frames/arches to prevent injury if the vehicle rolls over.

When in motion, lateral forces generated during vehicle movement, turning, acceleration, and braking can impact stability.

Vehicle roof strength

A stationary vehicle experiences a downward force directed into its steel frame or arches. The robust vehicle roofs protect occupants from accidents and maintain shape on rough terrain or when struck by fast-moving objects.

Essentially, your vehicle's roof can handle the weight of a roof tent and two or three adults when not in motion.
