Water resistant treatment has broken down with age which is often sadly seen in these - still fully functional as pack but lost waterproofing as pictured and looks a bit sad.
Waterproofing can be removed on some packs with alcohol cleaner.

Webbing straps at bottom
Top clasps for adding straps for ground sheet or extra kit .
Plastic buckles etc- Metal D ring and buckle packs also available
